Alexakis Winery is a family-owned winery with deep roots in Crete. It was founded in the 1970s by Stelios Alexakis, Chemical Engineer and Oenologist, together with Sofia Alexaki. Today, the winery is run by their children, Lazaros Alexakis, Oenologist trained at the University of Florence, and Apostolos Alexakis, Oenologist trained at Fresno State University in California.

Alexakis Winery is the largest privately owned winery in Crete. For decades, it has collaborated with grape growers across the island, building long-standing relationships and gaining in-depth knowledge of the unique characteristics of the Cretan vineyard.

This expertise allows the careful selection of vineyard sites with distinct character for each grape variety. With quality as its guiding principle, the winery’s work always begins in the vineyard.
